The Top 10 Things Brides Forget That They Need To Remember – Part 1 | Events by L | Illinois Wedding and Event Planning Specialists

Events by L Illinois Wedding PlannersWelcome to Part 1 of the top 10 things brides almost always forget and really need to remember when planning for their Big Day.  If you are like the majority of the brides we have been so honored to plan for, you will have the same “aha!” moments as they did when we remind them of these items.

1.  What about your overnight bag?

If you are not staying at a hotel the night before your Big Day you probably won’t think about your overnight bag until you are heading over to your bridal suite.  Then what do you do with your bag?  Be sure to designate someone to take you and the groom’s bags to the hotel for you so you don’t have to lug it around in you gorgeous dress.

After the reception there are many items that are left behind that you will want to have as keepsakes.  Your cake topper, cake cutter, unity candle, toasting flutes, gifts, leftover food and booze, leftover favors, and more.  Choose a sober person and let them know what you would like them to collect and where and when to drop it all off.  Don’t forget if you are changing dresses during your reception, someone will need to be responsible for taking this home for you.

3.  Making plans for after the reception.

Depending on what time your venue closes and what type of crowd you are hosting at the reception, you may want to keep the party going after hours.  Keep this in mind and have a plan for where you, your wedding party, and out-of-town guests are staying so you are near by some late night entertainment.

4.    Plan a place for everything.

When we say a wedding is all about the details – it’s all about the details.  Have a place in mind for all of your paper items and materials like programs, escort and place cards, and menus.  If you don’t have a coordinator or planner you are going to need to delegate this responsibility to someone.  You are not going to be able to set these items out when the day comes.

It is always a good idea to dress up spots around the venue that may be left bare such as the bar area, bathrooms, hallway areas, and depending on your venue there may be different areas left untouched by design and décor.  A monogrammed tray in the bathrooms holding toiletries is a nice touch and a nice way to show off your new initials.  You can add your touch to the bar and other areas by simply placing one of your engagement photos, a quote, or whatever means the most to you for your guests to enjoy.

Stay tuned for part two of the list coming up next week.  Until then, what items have you overlooked throughout your own wedding planning?  Leave a comment below and share with our community.

Until next time,

Xoxo

  1. Great ideas here. I would love to help any couple with personalization of a sign for the bar or other area with a favorite quote, photograph, song lyric – pretty much anything that can be put onto paper. Looking forward to the next installment!

  2. All great tips, and all essentials a day of coordinator or wedding planner can take care of, so that the bride and groom don’t have to worry!

  3. Just some of the important things to consider. I don’t know how couples have the energy to party after the reception but karaoke is always a hit, especially with a few tipsy participants.
