Some of you may not be aware because that other event on Sunday is starting to outshine the fact that it’s also Groundhog day! Hundreds will be braving the weather and gathering at the Woodstock Square to see Woodstock Willie!
Since Woodstock was the location of the exteriors in the movie “Groundhog Day” it is only fitting that it is celebrated each year. The festivities have been going since Thursday, January 30th but you still have time to get in on the fun.
Head on over to the Groundhog Dinner Dance tonight at the Woodstock Moose Lodge. Dinner starts at 6:00pm followed by live music at 8:00pm.
On Saturday you can view the FREE “Groundhog Day” Movie Showing at the Classic Cinemas, Jim May’s Groundhog Tales at Home State Bank, a chili cook off at Stage Left Cafe and Opera House, the walking tour of the filming sites, and more.
Then on Sunday February 2nd it’s Groundhog Day Prognostication time held at the Woodstock Square. Woodstock Willie will be awoken from his winter nap by a polka band playing in the bandstand. Will he see his shadow or are we all doomed for 6 more weeks?
