It’s Mood Board Monday and our dazzling blue and gold wedding mood board has us feeling blue in a good way! We put together a mood board with two of the hottest color trends of spring 2014. It is so elegant, chic, and versatile that we can’t get enough of it and look forward to seeing it frequently this spring.
During the winter season the blue and gold color combination provides us with a rich navy and warm color palette to play off of introducing various winter tones of oranges, dark shades of greens, and more. Yet in the summer the colors get a toned down, pastel shaded makeover. It is classic and sophisticated and invites hues of pink, ivory, or greens, oh my! The possibilities!
There is a reason that blue and gold is a classic combination and maybe it’s because it is flattering to everyone, or maybe because you can pair it with so many different shades and color schemes, but whatever it is we love it and we hope that our mood board will inspire you.
Having a vision and seeing it come to life is the best part of the wedding planning process and what our VIB’s look forward to the most. We would love to see what color combinations you are selecting for your upcoming nuptials. It’s so fun to see all of the variations you brides come up with that are so unique and special to you! Leave a comment below and send us a picture so we can see your visions!
If you are in the process of selecting your wedding date then avoid everything else and continue reading this post! It can be tough to determine the date you are going to be married, and often times regardless of what you hear or read your venue will dictate the dates that are available.
If you have the luxury on a lengthy planning period that is wonderful but can also be a curse. Think about it this way, you are planning your wedding and are dreaming of a May wedding, the venue has availability on May 10, 2015. How many of you would say, “We’ll take it!”? Well, that is great and all but did you even realize that is Mother’s day weekend? Hmm…this could be a problem.
There are a lot of great reasons to have your wedding during a holiday weekend but there are also things to consider as well which makes it extremely important to do your research so you are not surprised if hotel accommodations, floral pricing, etc., are more expensive when you get closer to your date.
No worries! Here is a list of the top dates to avoid so you will won’t steal anyone’s thunder on YOUR Big Day courtesy of Justine Lorelle Blanchard via The Knot.

Major Sporting Events
If you’re die-hard sports fans — or if you’re worried your guests might have a hard time choosing between your wedding and the big game — avoid getting married during popular sporting events. And if a lot of your guests come from the same alma mater, watch out for homecoming weekends and bowl games that might conflict.

Unlucky Dates
If you’re superstitious, you might want to watch out for these historically inauspicious dates from across several cultures.
The Ides of March
For ancient Romans, an “ides” was simply a date that marked the middle of the month — until Julius Caesar was assassinated on March 15 in 44 B.C. Since then, “Beware the Ides of March” has become the mantra of this superstitiously unlucky date.

Friday the 13th
The unluckiest date of the year has questionable origins. Some historians say it comes from the 13 diners who were present at the last supper, but the famous Code of Hammurabi doesn’t include a 13th law, which suggests this superstition is as many as 3 millennia old. And it wasn’t until a successful novel titled Friday the Thirteenth was published in the early 1900s that Friday became part of the unlucky equation.

Leap Years
Greeks and Romans thought that starting any new life event — from getting married to baptizing a child — in a leap year would bring bad luck.

So, we stumbled upon an article/poll from 2010 this week written by Tacori. In case you are not familiar with Tacori they are leaders in designing platinum and diamond engagement rings, and wedding rings. Anywho, the article was titled “Should Engagement Rings be a Suprise?” They conducted a poll to gather everyone’s’ take on this debate. Their findings were rather interesting!
According to TACORI’s 2010 survey the following was discovered:
“Although many women love the romantic idea of a surprise, fewer than 25% of women want the proposal to be a complete surprise.”;
“Almost 70% of women agree that SHE should have some sort of input on the ring – but that the proposal itself should be a surprise.”; and
“A small percentage, 6%, want to jointly plan both the ring and the engagement with their partner.”
Are you the 6% of women (and potentially more since the survey was completed about 4 years ago now) that want to plan the ring AND the actual engagement?
We want to hear from you what your thoughts are on this topic, and if you are ENGAGED did you pick out your own ring and did you have any involvement in planning your engagement proposal?
We can’t wait to see your responses! You can email, Facebook, Tweet, or let us know your thoughts by snail mail even!
We will let you know what we find out!!!
